  • Influenza and COVID 19 (SARS-CoV2) have similar symptoms in their initial phases that can confuse the two diseases
  • The overlapping of both viruses should be avoided and thus the confusion and possible increased severity
  • Both diseases have a higher impact on the same groups, especially those groups at risk of complications
  • The Ministry for Health, the Autonomous Communities, the WHO and the European Commission agree that the influenza vaccination coverage should be increased during this 2020 - 2021 campaign
  • It is also recommended that the vaccination dates are brought forward in anticipation of a possible coincidence with a potential COVID 19 resurgence
  • The groups have been increased in which the vaccination against influenza is recommended
